47th Street - Diamond District

This week I'm going to focus on 47th street better known as the Diamond District in Manhattan. I get to walk through here on the way to work every day, its sort of weird seeing all these stores with nothing in the window.

Did you know Tip: The Diamond District is the world's largest shopping district for all sizes and shapes of diamonds and fine jewelry...

I love this sign I see with the reflection in the window and the smoke coming out of the vent...

Easter Sunday Walk

It's been a few weeks since I had the chance to go for a walk. The weather finally cooperated this weekend and when I set out to just check the laundry hours and pet food, I ended up on a 3 mile walk.

A bright sunny day brought be some very colorful pictures....

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was completed in 1884 in France, arrived in June 1885 in New York; however, it wasn't until October 28th, 1886 that it was unveiled by President Grover Cleveland. When the last stone of the pedestal was swung into place the masons reached into their pockets and showered into the mortar a collection of silver coins.

Did you know that the entire statue and pedestal weighs 450,000 pounds and is 305 ft 1 in tall??

Currently, the island is open but the statue remains closed.
