What's the Hook on Van Brunt St.
Last nite, What's the Hook photos were on display at Mark Van S. Studio on Van Brunt Street in Red Hook. The display was refreshing as it took every photo tagged in on flickr in a group and showed it to the outside projected on its doors. It was a great way to see some great photos. Kudo's to Harriet and What's the Hook...

Subway Experience
Yesterday, I had a wonderful F train experience. While at West 4th street, the conductor said that there were switch signal problems at Jay Street and that we would be going on the B/D track into Brooklyn. They didn't say when things would be fixed, didn't say to get off and get next F, nothing! So, I decided to screw the F, as it had been horrendous all week and just take the B/D to Pacific/Atlantic and then transfer to R to Prospect and 4th Avenue. Needless to say my trip was fine and I got home with plenty of time to spare for the Isaac Hayes concert in Prospect Park but I am so tired of the NYC subway problems. They keep raising the fares and I don't see a thing upgraded.
Well, one bonus came out of this new route, as I found another Vote sticker on the entrance to Prospect Expy Entrance on 17th Street

Coney Island
To start the day off a little cooler we decided to skip the Puerto Rican Parade Madness in the city and hit the Coney Island Boardwalk. Whomever didn't go to the parade though, must of hit the beach. We took the subway and this young group of kids found it necessary to blast their music on the train. Don't you just love it when they do that... Well, we still managed to have a great morning, soak up some sun and of course a hot dog at Nathan's. I thought I would start off the photos from our day with some random bench sleeping. Next up, Nathan's...

Old San Juan Buildings
I recently visited San Juan, Puerto Ricoand I wanted to share with you some of my photos. The city was fun to walk around for a day. The buildings were colorful with very pastel like colors. Below are some buildings we came across..

Gowanus Goes Green Festival
We visited the Gowanus Goes Green Festival today. It was a great time with good music and food. We got to see what the Gowanus Canal Conservancy was planning with the sponge park and meet vendors promoting "green" products. There is so much potential for the canal and hopefully one day in the near future it will be able to become similar to the Venice Canal. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz was there to show his support and hopefully others will continue to back it.

June 1st Walk
Today's destination was two fold: Kentler Gallery to see "What's the Hook" exhibit and to the First Annual Gowanus Green Festival. I was fortunate to partake in the "What's the Hook" event last year where people were invited to take photos of Red Hook during a week long period and then submit to a flickr pool. During this summer, photos have been selected to be shown in several venues across Red Hook. I recommend trying to see the work, its great to see so what each person sees. Check below for locations:
