Freemans Alley Walk
Today we decided to go to the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side, unfortunately the F wasn't cooperating and it was going along the A train to West 4th Street so we decided to get off at Broadway/Nassau and walk our way stopping at various places along the way to get some heat. Not a day you really want to go for a long walk but we did it anyway. Along the way we hit Pearl River Mart and Freemans Alley off Rivington between Bowery and Christie. Its a street you may have walked past 1000's of times but today we noticed a restaurant on the end of it that looked cute and crowded not to mention the alley had plenty of interesting graffiti. My favorite being "ignore this text" below and saw an ad for thumbnailaddict.blogspot.com.
Needless to say we never made it to the museum, but found an interesting new find in the streets of NYC...

View from my Kitchen Window
These two pictures are from my kitchen window. We have a great view of an awesome Japanese Maple tree. If only the backyard didn't go to waste by our landlord. I never can understand when people waste their backyards in NYC....

Philadelphia Phillies
I was fortunate enough to go to the World Series game last nite. Being a philly fan since I was 1 day old, I have been waiting 25 years for Monday nite. Mitch Williams "ruined" my life at that time in 1993 but I'm looking for some redemption tonite. The fans were incredible last nite, you would of thought they already won the World Series. As a philly fan we are confident tonite but also as a philly fan we expect the worse to happen. We will see. I might name my first kid Cole if he does it tonite! (hope the wife doesn't mind) There were so many great posters last nite I couldn't catch them all... If your a philly fan enjoy and if not, well hopefully you will still enjoy.

Long Island City Walk
Saturday, we explored Long Island City. Having never been except through the 5 boro bike tour I had no idea where to go or what to expect. It took a little before we found our way but then we came across a cute coffee shop on Vernon around 47th and made our way to the waterfront. We found some huge hi-rises and incredible views of manhattan. We also had a great lunch at lounge 47 on Vernon. After walking around we walked over the Pulaski Bridge to Greenpoint and over to Williamsburg. You get a great view of the midtown tunnel entrance on the walk. I don't even think most people knew they could even walk over the bridge. Its an interesting walk that I would recommend to see the two different area's. Overall it was a great walk and one I had been longing to do.

Atlantic Avenue Street Festival
This weekend was the annual Atlantic Antic Street Festival on Atlantic Avenue. I have never been but I heard good things. Well, we were not disappointed. This is definately the best street festival in NYC. The food was delicious, the vendors were not the same sock, sunglasses guys you see at all of them. Sahadi's was out there selling their great food, all the desert places were out there and lets just say you couldn't go ten feet without a kids t-shirt stand. Not having kids, I felt a little out of place but it was a blast. If you haven't been, don't miss out next year. After all the food we ate, we even managed to get in a 4.5mile walk...
